PHS_Garrett Garver_Bicentennial TorchThis October, Indiana will have a 92-county torch relay as part of its Bicentennial celebration.

Marshall County officials opted to have seniors from each school district be the torchbearers. These students were selected by essays they wrote in response to the question, “What does it mean to be a Hoosier?” Plymouth High School’s Garrett Garver’s essay secured him the spot as the torchbearer representing Plymouth Community School Corporation. Congratulations to Garrett Garver and his family!

The Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay was created to honor Hoosiers who have demonstrated exceptional public service, achievement, acts of heroism and/or volunteer service to their neighborhood, community, region or state. Torchbearers will be Hoosiers, representing all walks of life. More than 1,800 torchbearers will be selected to carry the torch.
