415 Conger StreetMembers of the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety conducted an enforcement hearing during their meeting on Monday evening for an unsafe structure on the property located at 415 Conger Street.

City Building Commissioner Keith Hammonds told the board the outbuilding has trees and brush growing in and around it and it appears that it’s been vacant for many years.  He said, “I took a look at it and determined that it was unsafe.”

Hammonds said neighbors have tried to talk to the owner about their concerns and asked to have the building torn down but the owner has refused.

Last week the property owner, according to the Marshall County GIS, Christine Lynn Miller was sent a letter with the determination of the building inspector and information of the city’s enforcement hearing with the opportunity to provide information on the situation.  No one showed up for the hearing.

The Board of Public Works and Safety affirmed the order which allows the property owner 60 days to take action with substantial progress shown within 30 days.  If the owner does not comply with the order the city has the power to have the unsafe structure removed.
