Plymouth FOP Lodge 195 hosted the first annual Cops and Bobbers Fishing Day at Price’s Memorial Park, part of the Plymouth park system.

Fifteen youth were selected to participate in the program that teaches kids how to fish and show police in a positive and friendly manner. The kids, from throughout Marshall County were selected with the help of elementary school counselors from the schools in the county.

The event included a water safety discussion with John Boyd of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, a K9 demonstration with ISP Trooper Dave Caswell, fishing, lunch and prizes.

Hurshel Hunter for the FOP said, “Next year we hope to expand the Cops and Bobbers program with a scuba team demonstration and have members of the SWAT team display their tactical equipment.”

 

Hunter took time to thank FOP members, officers from the Plymouth and Warsaw Police Department, Indiana State Police and DNR for participating in the program. He also offered special thanks to Trooper Laurie Lemler and volunteer Shiloh Fonseca for organizing the event.
