The Plymouth boys golf team visited the greatly improved Culver Academy Golf Course on Thursday night taking on the Penn Kingsmen and CMA Eagles.  The Plymouth boys went low again!  Tonight’s 151 tied our season best from two weeks ago!  In the process the team picked up two solid victories Penn 153 and CMA 156.

Senior Colin Caine was the highlight of the night.  Colin carded birdies on two of his opening three holes.  After a double bogey moved him to even par Colin steadied himself with consecutive pars before making his third birdie of the night to get back to red numbers!  The thrill was short lived as Colin dropped a shot on the very next hole going back to even.  Starting his final hole, a par 3, Colin’s tee shot landed on the green in good position.  Colin’s next and final stroke found the bottom of the cup, a career best stat fourth birdie of the round and a career best 1 under par 35!  Colin’s playing partner and Medalist from Penn shot the low round of the day 33.  Their group was on fire!
Micah Calhoun was unable to take advantage of his length on the par 5’s tonight but fired a smooth and consistent 37.  John Gerard got off to a great start playing -1 through four holes.  John sandwiched in a second birdie on #5, but limped in +3 over his final two holes to card a very respectable 38.  Rounding out the scoring for PHS was Hudson Yoder 41 and Grant Clady 45.
Impressive about tonight’s 151 and the previous 151 both occurred on Thursday nights and both we’re on the road at challenging tracks.  The course conditions and turf at CMA have improved tremendously!  The topography of the property and the addition of numerous pure sand bunkers made for an enjoyable round.
The Plymouth JV playing in their final match of the season shot a 186 and split, beating Penn but loosing to CMA.
CMA 174
Plymouth 186
Penn 193
Tonight’s loss was the first since a pair of mid-April losses to Mishawaka Marian.  Encouraging for the JV we went undefeated in NLC play!
