Highlights:  The JV Pilgrims played a hard fought game against Fairfield in the first game of the Wawassee JV tourney.  Fairfield took an early lead in the first, going up 5-1.  The game tightended up in 3rd-5th innings with the teams jockeying for the lead.  Plymouth had the lead going into the bottom of the 6th 11-8. However, some strong hits and well placed base runners, the Fairfield team pulled ahead, scoring 4 runs, in the 6th inning. With a scoreless 7th the game ended at 11-12.  Cassidy Holiday led the Pilgrim’s offense, earning four hits, 2includong 2 singles and 2 doubles.  She also had 3 steals, and 2 RBI.  Megan Kersey and Jena Downs had a well played double play.   Grace Allmon started at the mound for the Pilgrims and pitched the first 2 innings with 1 strikeout.  Josie Koontz stepped for the remaining innings with 2 strikeouts. The loss brought  the JV Pilgrim’s record to 9-14 on the year.  They then played John Glenn in the consolation game for the tournament.

Highlights:  The JV Pilgrims played very well against John Glenn to finish off their season, winning the game 24-4.   Every batter got on base and scored a run.  The JV Pilgrims were also were able rotate on defense and try out some new positions in this last game of the year.  On Offense, the Pilgrims had several lead the pack, including Jena Downs with 3 hits (2 singles and a double, one hit batting lefty), Cassidy Holiday with 3 hits, including 2 bunts and a single out to center, and Caitlin Jones with 2 hits, and 6 steals, and scoring 4 runs (every time she was up to bat).  On defense, the Pilgrims played very well, even in new positions.  Sydnee Smith made some great catches out in center field and Shayla Noble threw out 2 players in the 4th inning.  Jena Downs threw out a runner at 3rd and made a tag out at home in the 5th.  Renee Green played strong at first helping earn 2 outs in the final 2 innings. Josie Koontz started at the mound for the Pilgrims and pitched the first 3 innings with 1 strikeout with no runs allowed.  Jena downs then stepped for the next inning, pitching to Shayla Noble. Shayla and Jena swapped positions in the 5th inning and Shayla ended the game at the mound with no runs allowed. The win brought  the JV Pilgrim’s record to 10-14 on the year.  The JV Pilgrims played a great season.  They had some tough games and some close loses.  The coaching staff is very proud of what they have accomplished this year and are looking forward to coming back next season with a great group of girls.
