The Plymouth Park Board approved the request of United Way of Marshall County to hold their 2016 Campaign Kick-Off/Fund-raising event at the Young Amphitheatre in Centennial Park on August 13th.

Executive Director Linda Yoder and Director of Organizational Development Chris Johnson attended Monday’s meeting and explained their plan. They plan to host a “Taste of Marshall County” from 4 till 9 with a variety of restaurants setting up booths and selling tastes along with a beer and wine tasting separate from the food area. The event would also include local band “Southern Straightaway” from 7 till 9.

Additional activities planned are games such as horseshoes, corn hole and dancing. A 50/50 raffle is also planned.

United Way of Marshall County will sell tickets in advance and at the door. The tickets will provide entrance to the event and will include coupons for tastings.

Yoder said United Way would hire security and card all those entering the beer and wine tasting.

Park Board member Jim Causey said, “This is new ground for us. Last year the Blazin BBQ held a beer tasting event and later this month there will be another beer tasting for Freedom Park in River Park Square. We are hopeful these events will go well.”

The Plymouth Park Board unanimously approved the request.
