Plymouth Community SchoolsThe Plymouth School Board approved a two-year contract with “The Crossing” during the June 7 meeting of the Board. The Crossing is an alternative education program that extends services to students who have already dropped out of school or are at risk of becoming a dropout.

The program was developed to reach students who may not succeed in a traditional learning environment. The Crossing staff uses school referrals along with other outreach activities to enroll students.

PCSC contracts for a minimum of 15 student placements each year. According to Assistant Superintendent Andy Hartley, the minimum was met with the exception of a couple of small temporary drops in the past.

This year, there will be five students who have been enrolled in the program who will graduate. According to Hartley, there may be a sixth graduate if the needed credits can be completed.

Hartley indicted that the new contract will be essentially the same as the last with no major language changes.
