local News_2During their regular meeting on February 2, the Plymouth School Board accepted a combined bid by Majority Builders for a project to renovate buildings and bleachers at the Plymouth High School football field and construct an addition to the Administration Building.

The combined total submitted by Majority totals $1,216,640. According to Dave Schoof, director of operations, the total reflects a discount of $32,000 for accepting the combined bid.

The low bid for the football area was submitted by R Yoder Construction at $827, 860; however the bid was determined to be incomplete. The high bidder was Brown &Brown at $1,019,000.

The high bidder for the Administration construction was for $528, 450 from Robert Haney.

Schoof explained that they sought bids with three alternates and the base bid. He said they are still under budget, but added that they are very close to the budgeted amount.

Demolition of two buildings at the football field has already begun and the bleachers will be removed as soon as the electric power is shut off. Construction could begin as soon as mid-March, according to Schoof.

Work at the Administration Building could be started by October of this year.
