PHS_Scott Kaser Photo 1Recently 11 students enrolled in the Precision Machining program at Plymouth High School received their National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certification.

Precision Machining is a fully functioning machine shop that is geared to provide high school juniors and seniors of the North Central Area Vocational Cooperative (NCAVC) entry level to advanced education machining. The program is designed to train students for employment in a variety of occupations available in industrial manufacturing shops.

The following occupational titles represent just a small example of possible employment opportunities: Machine Tool Operator, Machinist, Mold Maker, Shop Manager, Tool and Die Maker.

PHS_Scott Kaser 2 PhotoJuniors and seniors are able to enroll in Precision Machining I, the entry-level course for first year students, and continue for a second year of Precision Machining II for more advanced education machining.

The program is taught by Instructor Scott Kaser at the ITAMCO Manufacturing Education School Service Center facility the state of art facility that prepares students in a real world atmosphere.

NCAVC consists of the following school corporations and districts: Argos, Culver, John Glenn, Knox, North Judson-San Pierre, Oregon-Davis, Plymouth, Rochester, Triton and Union-North United.
