vote_2Marshall County republicans will have another race on the primary ballot on May 3rd.

Bridget Hite will challenge John Grolich for the coroner’s job. Hite has been a deputy coroner under Marshall County Coroner Bill Cleavenger since January 2014 and was certified by the state as a Medical and Legal Death Investigator in July of 2012.  She has been a police officer for nearly 20 years and currently serves as the School Resource Officer for the Plymouth Community School Corporation.

John Grolich served the citizens of Marshall County as Coroner for 8 years from 2000 through 2008.  He’s a retired paramedic from the Plymouth Fire Department and continues to serve as a volunteer fire fighter and part-time paramedic for the department.  Grolich also works part time for the Culver EMS.  His qualifications are numerous including Chairman of the 5th District of the Indiana Volunteer Firemens Association, Coordinator for District 2 Fire Training, current President of the County Fire Association and a graduate of the National Fire Academy.

Penny LukenbillThe County-Council-at-Large race now has six republicans and one democrat vying to fill the three seats that are available.  Thursday afternoon Penny Lukenbill declared her candidacy for the County Council at Large on the republican ticket.  Lukenbill was caucused in as County Treasurer’s when Deb VanDeMark was elected County Clerk in the 2014 general election.   Penny has served as the Marshall County Treasurer for 8 additional years and served 8 years as County Auditor.  Other candidates on the republican ticket for the At Large seats are incumbents Steve Harper and Jon VanVactor who are being challenged by Toni Hutchings, Jack Roose and Jim Masterson on the republican ticket and Donna Wenzel on the democratic ticket.

Other local races on the republican ballot include County Commissioner in District 3 with incumbent Kevin Overmyer being challenged by Bill Githens, the County Treasurer seat with Steve Heim and William Cleavenger and in the Surveyor’s race Rex Gilliland, Don Heckford and Dennis Morrison all seek the position.

Other filings for the republicans include Precinct Committeepersons.  At this point all are incumbents: Ben Baker in German 2, Tamera Borggren in West 3, William Cleavenger for Union 1, Jill Hassel in German 5, Daniel Holmes in German 4, Janice Holmes in German 3, Robert Manuwal in Center 2, Jim Masterson for Center 7, Donna Pontius in West 1, Matthew Sarber for Center 6, Judith Stone for Center 8 and Mark Thompson for Walnut 1. Republican State Convention Delegates are Jesse Bohannon, Jon Bohannon, William Cleavenger, David Holmes, Janice Holmes, Mathew Sarber, Sean Surrisi and Deborah VanDeMark.  On the democratic side there is: Susan Crump, Mary Jo Finley, James Helmke and Michelle Livinghouse. The last day to file intentions to be a candidate in the May Primary is Friday, February 5th at noon.
