Starke County Police Officers were dispatched to the Grovertown Truck Stop on US 30 around 11 a.m. Thursday morning for an intoxicated subject who was injecting an unknown drug in the bathroom.
Hamlet Police arrived on scene and took subject into custody.
Starke County officers and detectives arrived on the scene shortly after and were advised another subject fled from the scene.
Officers located syringes with an unknown substance, spoon with liquid and a lighter in the bathroom. The substance has been sent to the Indiana State Police lab for testing.
Police arrested 36 year old Walter Girton from Porter, Indiana on preliminary charges of Possession of Heroin and Possession of Paraphernalia. He also has an active warrant out of LaPorte County.
Hamlet Police and Indiana State Police assisted.
