State Senator Ryan Mishler (R-Bremen) will continue to serve on the State Budget Committee as the Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations during the summer and fall months to help prepare for the 2017 session of the General Assembly.
“With 2017 being a budget year, it’s important to prepare in the off months before entering the legislative session,” Mishler said. “This committee will provide opportunities for state leaders to identify ways to keep the Hoosier state moving forward.”
The process of developing a state budget involves the participation of many stakeholders over an extended time period. The State of Indiana has a biennial budget, meaning that each budget contains appropriations for two fiscal years.
Along with the Budget Committee, Mishler will also serve on the Midwest Higher Education Commission (MHEC). The MHEC is a compact of 12 Midwestern states organized to promote higher education opportunities in the Midwest region.
