A 17 year old girl from Hamlet was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend Tuesday morning following a crash on 14th Road just east of State Road 17.
At 10:42 a.m. the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a personal injury accident involving a 2011 Nissan Versa and a semi equipment trailer owned by Marshall County.
The investigation revealed that Kaitlin Stone was traveling east on 14th Road when she crossed the center line and struck a large equipment trailer that was parked on the north side of the roadway unloading a loader.
Stone had to be extricated from the vehicle by Culver Fire and EMS and was flown from the scene to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Drugs, alcohol and the use of a cell phone do not appear to be a contributing factor in the crash.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted on scene by Culver EMS, Culver Fire, Culver Police, Plymouth EMS.
