People in downtown Plymouth Tuesday morning had the opportunity to see a herd of bison on the streets. This wasn’t a typical hear of bison but a trailer filled with 5 foot tall, 100 pound fiberglass bison as part of the State’s Bicentennial project.

Bison_tennial_Plymouth_2Bison_Tennial_Plymouth_3Their goal, to have at least one of the bison on display in each of Indiana’s 92 counties along the Bicentennial Torch Relay route.

On Tuesday the snow-white bison were delivered to Bremen and Plymouth, the only two that will be in Marshall County. In Plymouth the bison will be painted by artists from the Heartland Artist Gallery with scenes depicting the different communities in Marshall County.

Bison_Tennial_BremenIn Bremen Psi Iota Xi, Theta Delta Chapter sponsored the bison and in Plymouth the statue was sponsored by: Marshall County Historical Museum, Marshall County Community Foundation, Marshall County Tourism, Mayor’s Youth Council, Pilot News, Shirley Casbon, Heiden Creative, Doug Haberland, Tri Kappa, Ancilla Domini Sisters, Culver Tool & Die, the Chamber of Commerce, Heartland Artists, Paul and Carol Nye, Friends of the Library, Linda Rippy and Kevin Boye.
