Trick-or-treating is a Halloween custom for children in many countries. Children in costumes travel from house to house asking for treats such as candy or, in some cultures, money with the phrase “Trick or treat”. The “trick” is usually an idle threat to perform mischief on the homeowners or their property if no treat is given to them.
Some homeowners signal that they are willing to hand out treats by putting u turning on their porch light or putting up Halloween decorations outside. Others might simply leave treats on their porch.
In the USA trick-or-treating has been a Halloween tradition since the late 1920s.
There are a number of local opportunities for children to participate in the Halloween tradition of gathering candy.
Lincoln Junior High School in Plymouth will host their 2nd Annual Fall Fest with a Haunted School and Trick or Treating this Friday and Saturday, October 28th and 29th. Trick or Treating each night costs $5. On Friday children 10 and under can enjoy activities in themed rooms with candy from 5:30 till 9 and Saturday from 5 to 8. The Haunted School at LJH will offer a Family Friendly time, with the lights on, on Friday from 5:30 till 6:30 and Saturday from 5 till 6 then the scariness begins at 7 on Friday and 6:30 on Saturday. Cost for the Haunted School is $10.
The Moose Lodge on West Jefferson Street in Plymouth will hold Trunk or Treat in the parking lot from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. this Saturday.
Children are invited to downtown Plymouth this Saturday for the annual downtown Trick or Treating from 1 till 3. This also includes the Plymouth Public Library which will offer games and treats.
Miller’s Merry Manor and Assisted Living will open their doors to costumed children on Saturday from 2 till 3 for indoor Trick or Treating.
Church of the Heartland on East Jefferson Street will offer Trick or Treating at 3 on Sunday afternoon.
Traditional neighborhood Trick or Treating in Plymouth, Argos, Bremen and Culver will be on Monday, October 31st from 5 till 7.
In Argos the local businesses will offer Trick or Treating from 4 till 5 as well.
