PLYMOUTH – It was a night of food, music and charity hosted by United Way of Marshall County. United Way hosted a new kickoff to their fundraising campaign for this year with a food and music celebration that included a pair of area bands – Shots Fired Reloaded and area favorite Southern Straightaway – and some of the area’s best food vendors. The money raised will start this year’s campaign for United Way to help everyone in Marshall County. “We’re feeling really good about this. We had good attendance, a good steady stream of people from beginning to end,” said Linda Yoder, Executive Director of United Way in Marshall County. “The food was great the bands were great we had a lot of positive remarks tonight.” Money raised from Saturday night’s kick off will go to support more than 22 agencies around the county that United Way funds go to support. Everything from adult education to child care in the county has a tie to the agency and their mission to help the entire community of Marshall County. In that spirit there was no end of volunteers and others that made Saturday night’s celebration come off as a success. “We have a great group of people around us we couldn’t make it happen without them,” said Yoder. “There’s a core group of volunteers that really dug in and got it done, Esther Thompson, Rick Stiles and Chris Johnson in our office. Angie Rupchock Shaeffer was all over the place helping us out today and we really appreciate it.” Over 22,000 people in Marshall County receive help from some organization supported by United Way. Through support of education programs such as Project Lead the Way the organization is also taking a stand for a brighter future for many in the county. “We’re looking forward to doing this again, the feedback has been so good,” said Yoder.”
