Congressional Art CompetitionWASHINGTON – Representative Jackie Walorski (IN-02) announced Friday that beginning March 22, her district offices will begin accepting artwork for the 2016 Congressional Art Competition sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives.

Established in 1982, the Congressional Art Competition gives Members of Congress the opportunity to recognize artistic talent among their constituents. It takes place nationwide and is open to all high school students.

In recognition of the state’s 200th Birthday, each Indiana Congressional Office has agreed to require every submission to include a connection to Indiana’s bicentennial.  Artwork must be two-dimensional and can be no larger than 27” x 27” x 3” when framed.

Submissions can be dropped off at the Mishawaka Office (202 Lincolnway East suite 101) Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by arranging an appointment with the office by calling (574) 204-2645 or in the Rochester Office (709 Main Street) on Tuesday or Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or schedule an appointment by calling (574) 223-4373.  For schools outside a 35-mile radius of Mishawaka Walorski’s office will pick up submissions from schools.

Submissions will be judged by a panel of art professionals from the Second Congressional District and a photo of each entry will be posted on Walorski’s official Facebook album, allowing constituents from across the district to view the artwork.  All artwork will be displayed at the South Bend International Airport for public viewing beginning Monday, April 25.
