winter-weather-advisoryThe National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a Winter Weather Advisory which is in effect from 8 p.m. tonight through 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Light snow will continue to develop early this evening and become moderate to heavy at times overnight into Tuesday as system snow tonight transitions to lake effect snow showers tomorrow.

Storm total for snow accumulations is 3 to 6 inches and northwest winds will increase late tonight to between 20 and 30 MPH and continue into Tuesday.  This will create blowing and drifting of the powdery snow.

Roads will become snow covered and hazardous tonight and driving may become difficult, especially late tonight and Tuesday.  Drivers will have reduced visibilities due to falling and blowing snow with near whiteout conditions possible within heavier snow bands.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES…AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
