2016 ISA Leadership Camp

Tuesday the Marshall County Sheriffs’ Department sent 12 area youth off to the Indiana Sheriffs’ Leadership Camp held in Pine Village, Indiana in Warren County.

Marshall County Deputies Ryan Hollopeter and Travis Oneal along with female jailers Alyssa Miller and Meg Wilcockson accompanied the youth to the leadership camp held this week June 21-24.

The camp was founded in 1980 and is designed to achieve three basic objectives. First, the sheriffs want to foster a stronger relationship between our state’s youth and the men and women who enforce the laws. Secondly, the sheriffs want to give children, who ordinarily would not have the opportunity, a chance for a summer camp experience. Lastly, to give youth a chance to build character and inspire leadership skills. The camp is funded by Indiana Sheriffs Association dues. Applications for association membership and the camp are both found on their website, www.indiana sheriffs.org or the local sheriff’s office.
