Tuesday morning Triton School Corporation Business Manager Tom McFarland presented Marshall County Community Foundation Executive Director Linda Yoder with a check in the amount of $188,611. The money was a generous gift to the school from the Charles and Glendora Compton Trust.
Twenty years ago Mrs. Compton set up a trust in honor of her husband. The trust specifically spelled out a portion to the Triton School to be used for post-secondary scholarships to trade training programs. Triton will begin distributing these scholarships at the end of the 2017-2018 school year.
McFarland said he believed the donation to the most generous ever to the school corporation.
Linda Yoder encouraged others to consider a planned gift to the Community Foundation. She said it is a fairly quick and simple process and is more than willing to discuss options with anyone. She also noted that the gift can be set up with any specifics the donor wants.
