Pavement Solutions will begin Microsurface Project Mid Week

June 18, 2017

Road_ConstructionWhile INDOT has completed their paving project within the City of Plymouth, residents and drivers will still be inconvenienced occasionally with additional city street projects this month.

Chris Oakes Owner of Pavement Solutions, the company hired by the City of Plymouth to Microsurface several streets in town will begin work the week of June 19th.   On Friday, June 16th Oakes said, “TCS has completed the removal of the pavement markings and placed temporary markings on the streets to be Microsurfaced.”

The initial schedule had the Microsurface project beginning on Monday June 26.  Pavement Solutions is currently able to move that up, and hope to begin placing the Microsurface as early as Wednesday, June 21 or Thursday, June 22; weather permitting.
The first three days Pavement Solutions will complete both the leveling and surface course on Oakhill Ave from South Michigan Street to the city limits, near the Waste Water Treatment Plant.  Traffic will be maintained by flaggers and one lane will remain open at all times.

Oak Drive from Jefferson Street, at the Dairy Queen, south to State Road 17 will be closed to traffic during hours of construction.  Detour routes will be utilized.  The plan is to complete both the leveling and surface course in 1 day.

Days 5 through 10, Oak Drive from Jefferson Street to US 30 will be completed with both the leveling and surface course.  The first day of the project Pavement Solutions will work fromJefferson to Markley Drive.  The project will then continue to place the leveling course over the remainder of Oak Drive from Markley to Jefferson.  Once the leveling course is placed they plan on circling back and placing the surface course in the same manner.  Traffic will be controlled by arrow board, traffic control cones and flaggers.  There will be times when turns will be restricted across lanes that have recently been placed.

The final few days will see road work on Jefferson Street, from Oak Drive to 5th Street.  This portion of the project will be completed by placing the leveling course over the entire area and then the application of the surface course.  This is when the middle of the intersection of Oak and Jefferson will be completed.  Traffic delays will occur during placement of material in the intersection.  Otherwise, traffic will be maintained by flaggers and one lane will remain open at all times.

There will be no work performed from 12:00 pm Friday, June 30 thru 6:00 am Wednesday, July 5.
