On Wednesday, August 16, County Police Officer Les McFarland was on routine patrol when he stopped a vehicle for exceeding the posted speed limit, 77 mph in a 60 mph zone.

During the course of the traffic stop, it was found that the driver, 28 year old Joshua Lee Hull of Twelve Mile, had an active warrant for his arrest through Porter County.  Officer McFarland also believed that Hull was under the influence of a controlled substance.

Joshua Hull was transported to the hospital for a chemical test and then arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated on a Controlled Substance.  A hold was placed on Mr. Hull pending Porter County, Indiana picking up him.

Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
