national Manufacturing DayMarshall County employers are asking for more opportunities to connect with local students, because they will soon be the next generation of workers. To meet these future workers, eight area businesses are opening their facilities to host tours for over 260 Plymouth High School students as part of Manufacturing Day.

Manufacturing Day is a national event in which manufacturers open their doors to showcase their businesses and foster interest in manufacturing careers. Plymouth will celebrate Manufacturing Day on Wednesday, November 15th. Plymouth High School has a history of ensuring that their students are career-ready by taking part in this event over the last few years. The number of participating businesses has grown from last year to give students more choices and better reflect the variety of opportunities they have to work in Plymouth.

On Wednesday, freshman at Plymouth High School will be touring Hoosier Tire, WestRock, Pretzels Inc., Pregis, CTE Solutions, Homestead Dairy, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, and Kessler Crane. This year, the event is targeted at younger students in order to get them thinking about career paths early. Participating businesses are eager to introduce students to the work they do and the variety of high-skill jobs they offer.

Marshall County is home to over 120 manufacturers, 9 U.S. headquarters, and 7 international companies. Manufacturing Day will expose students throughout the county to these manufacturers and the variety of careers they offer in order to develop our future workforce. Bremen High School took part in the event as well on October 11th this year, and more Marshall County schools are being encouraged to participate in the future.
