CrashInvestigation_2Two people were airlifted following a single vehicle crash on State Road 17, north of 20A Road Wednesday evening about 5:15.

Marshall County Police Officer Nick Laffoon investigated the crash of a 2006 Monte Carlo that had three people in it.

The crash report said the Monte Carlo, driven by 30 year old Justin Orangias of Culver  was traveling north on State Road 17 and apparently attempting to pass another vehicle.  He ran off the west side of the road, traveled back across State Road 17 and off the east side of the road.  It traveled down an embankment and rolled several times.

25 year old Heather Wynn of Culver was ejected from the vehicle.  She was transported to Memorial Hospital by helicopter.

40 year old Wanda Lynn Gilbert of Andrews, IN was also airlifted to Memorial Hospital.

The driver, Justin Orangias was transported to Saint Joseph Health Center in Plymouth for treatment.  Following his release Orangias was taken into custody and lodge in the Marshall County Jail for OWI Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving.  He is being held on a $1.500 cash bond.

The Marshall County Police Department was assisted by Lutheran Air, Lutheran EMS, Culver EMS, Culver Fire and the Culver Police Department at the scene of the collision.  The collision is still under investigation, but alcohol and illegal drug use appear to have been a factor in the collision at this time.
