BourbonPoliceBourbon Police arrested two men late last week on two separate incidents of battery.

Bourbon Police Officer Matt Geiger responded to the first incident at 408 North Lincoln Street at 12:50 Thursday morning.  He determined a battery had taken place and attested 23 year old Matthew S. Sechrist of the Lincoln Street address for Domestic Battery.

Sechrist was held on a $750 cash bond and given a February 21 date for his initial hearing in Marshall Superior Court II.

Friday morning about 12:30 a female came to the Bourbon Police Department and told Officer Matt Geiger she’d been battered by her boyfriend.  Going to the residence at 314 West Park Street, Officer Geiger located 34 year old Jeffrey H. Jackson who was intoxicated and has a Plymouth address.  After an investigation Officer Geiger arrested Jackson on a felony charge of Domestic Battery due to a previous conviction.

Jackson was held on a $1,500 cash bond and given a February 21 initial hearing in Marshall Superior Court II.

 

Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
