DONALDSON, IN – Ancilla Bowling Men’s Team finished 9th out of 16 teams at the NJCAA College Nationals over the weekend and had one women’s bowler place 12thout of 79.
On the first day, the men’s team sat in 8th out of 16 teams. On day two, the team “took too long to get used to a very tough pattern” said head coach Al Franklin leading to the team finishing in 9th place. “It is a great place to finish for a first year program. I am proud of them and the hard work they put in this season,” remarked Franklin.
In the singles division, Walter Griffin placed 8th out of 98 bowlers. Colton Baker placed 38th, Zach Newman earned 41st, Corgan Shepard ended in 46th, and Austin Jordan finished in 48th. Griffin and Baker missed out on a top three finish for double by 50 pins. “They fought hard,” said Franklin. “But I think they learned so much and will be prepared for next year when we make it back.”
On the women’s side, Angelique McKeny sat in 4th place out of 79 after the first day. After an unforeseen injury on day two, she finished in 12th out of 79. Taylor Hanner finished in 44th place, and Brooklyn Livings ended in 58th place. Out of 16 teams, the girls finished as a team in 13th after being short-handed all season.
“It was a great season for both the men’s and women’s team,” commented Franklin. “It was great for them to find out what college bowling is all about. I am beyond proud of these athletes and look forward to returning to the national’s scene next season.”
