Chargers seventh at Olivet
BATTLE CREEK, MI – The Ancilla Men’s Golf Team competed in the annual Lou Collins Invitational hosted by Olivet College in Battle Creek, Michigan.
This was a two day tournament held at the prestigious Bedford Valley Golf Course. The Charger Men shot 319 on day one led by Plymouth grad Micah Calhoun who shot 75. The highlight of the day came from one of Ancilla’s individual players Trevor Danielson – also a Plymouth grad – who shot a personal best of 80.
“Day one we played good, definitely not our best, but I could not be happier for Trevor who shot 80 today,” said Charger Golf Coach Marc Green, “He has worked very hard, and continues to improve.”
Day two saw a two shot improvement for the team, as they shot 317 and were led by Adam Gruenig, who shot an incredible 73. The Chargers also got a solid round from Evan Jones, who shot 80 and had nothing worse than a bogey all day.
Coach Green commented, “Overall we did well. I see improvement from different people each event we participate in.”
The Chargers’ score of 636 was good enough for seventh place out of 16 teams. Out of those 16 teams only two were junior colleges. The winning team, Ohio Northern University, shot an impressive team score of -1.
