Michigan Street BridgeThe bridge over the Yellow River on Michigan Street in downtown Plymouth will become the Thomas Chamberlin Memorial Bridge later this month thanks to Mayor Mark Senter and the Marshall County Commissioners.

Mayor Senter_Michigan Street Bridge Tom ChamberlinOn Monday, Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter asked the Marshall County Commissioners for approval to name the downtown bridge.  Senter said, “Two years ago we lost a leader in our community that was like no other and I would like to get your official permission to rename the Michigan Street Bridge as the Thomas Chamber Memorial Bridge.”

The mayor said a ceremony is planned for Friday, August 18th at 2 p.m.  During the festivities two plaques will be mounted on the first light poles headed north and south on the bridge in memory of Chamberlin.

ChamberlinThe commissioners unanimously approved the request to name the bridge in memory of Tom Chamberlin, a former Plymouth Police Chief, Marshall County Commissioner and Marshall County Sheriff.

Chamberlin passed away on August 25th, 2015 after a courageous battle against cancer.
