While on routine patrol, Thursday afternoon about 4, Marshall County Police Officer Les McFarland observed an Elkhart Christian School bus that had broken down alongside the roadway on US 31, northbound.
Officer McFarland stopped and found that the school bus had broken down and had approximately 28 children, parents and teachers were standing alongside the roadway waiting for help. With the assistance of the Marshall County Jail transport van and an Argos Community School Corporation bus, they were able to transport the occupants from the scene to a safer location to await transportation back to the Elkhart area.
