On Thursday, August 3, at 3:55 in the afternoon the Marshall County Sheriff`s Department was contacted in reference to a vehicle being struck by another unknown vehicle during the overnight hours. The crash occurred at a residence in the 3,000 block of Michigan Road.
Evidence at the scene revealed a 2013 Ford Escape was parked on the north side of the residence near a pole building, approximately 150 feet off of the roadway. There were vehicle tracks in the grass that indicated a vehicle had been traveling south on Michigan Road and ran off of the road just south of 3A Road. It appears that after the vehicle ran off of the road it turned sideways and struck the rear end of the Ford Escape. The vehicle then left the scene.
Based on the tracks left in the grass it appears the vehicle was a larger, possibly lifted, pickup truck with a wide wheel base. There was also a large, black center cap from a pickup truck located in the grass where the vehicle had been sliding sideways.
