MugShot_rahul paltaA Carmel man is in the Marshall County Jail after he led County Police on a pursuit that went into three counties. 

About 1:45 Thursday afternoon, September 14th County Police Officer

Jonathan Bryant attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that was west bound on U.S. 30 near Tulip Road. The driver of the vehicle failed to pull over and was pursued westbound on US 30 through Starke County and into LaPorte County before officers were able to force the car to stop near U.S. 30 and 100 West.

The driver, 35 year old Rahul Palta resisted officers while being taken into custody and battered Officer Bryant during a scuffle.

Palta is currently lodged in the Marshall County Jail on numerous charges including Resisting Law Enforcement with a vehicle as a level 6 felony, Resisting Law Enforcement as an A misdemeanor and Refusal to Identify as a class C misdemeanor.  He is being held on at $1,500 cash bond.
