The Marshall County Highway Department will begin the chip and seal project on South Michigan Street Wednesday morning.
The project won’t begin until 8:30 so those traveling to work or dropping off kids at school won’t be inconvenienced. The project begins at the city limits and continues south until US 31.
Drivers should avoid the area as much as possible. Traffic delays should be expected because the driving surface will be restricted to one lane with flaggers.
When driving on the fresh surface drivers are asked slow down and avoid quick accelerating or stopping. Traveling at higher speeds loosens the stones that are embedded in the oil and could fly up causing damage to vehicles.
