My Approved PortraitsWashington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly released the following statement following reports that North Korea has completed another ballistic missile test. Donnelly serves as Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces which oversees our nation’s nuclear deterrent and missile defense. He also serves as Ranking Member on the Senate Banking Committee’s National Security and International Trade and Finance Subcommittee.

Donnelly said, “This latest launch is the most recent in a line of provocations highlighting the grave threat North Korea poses to our country and our allies. The sanctions legislation we passed yesterday was a strong step in the right direction. The administration can and must step up sanctions against China and anyone else who contributes to propping up this dangerous regime. In the meantime I will continue to work with my colleagues on a bipartisan basis to ensure our military has the resources it needs to protect our country and our servicemembers in the region.”

Thursday, Donnelly helped the Senate pass, on a 98-2 vote, bipartisan legislation that would, in part, increase sanctions on North Korea for its unacceptable actions.
