Governor Eric Holcomb addressed a sold-out room Thursday night for the Marshall County Republicans annual Lincoln Day dinner and celebration. Chairman, David R. Holmes, welcomed members of the community as well as local, state, and federal office holders for the social event which had a unique personal touch. Opting for a more approachable style, Holcomb conversed in a question and answer session to inform the crown of Indiana’s position within the greater business, technology, and manufacturing community. A point of emphasis was Indiana’s leading role among state level government – with Holcomb referencing a recent study which ranked Indiana’s government as the most effective and efficient in the nation.
In attendance were several political office-holders, notably: Representative Jackie Walorski, State Representative Jack Jordan, County Commissioner Mike Delp, County Council Members Judy Stone, Penny Lukenbill, Bill Githens, Jim Masterson, Heath Thornton, Don Morrison, and Jon VanVactor, Sheriff Matt Hassell, Prosecutor Nelson Chipman, Judge Dean A. Colvin, Judge Robert O. Bowen, Coroner John Grolich, County Clerk Deb VanDeMark, County Treasurer Angie Birchmeier, County Auditor Julie Fox, and many more.
A group of Plymouth High School Students were also special guests of the Marshall County Young Republicans. Chairman Matt Sarber spoke to the audience welcoming the six high school students. During his remarks Sarber referenced the importance of cultivating a young base of conservative thinkers, constituents, and candidates – thereby safeguarding the freedom of future generations.
Dean A. Colvin opened and closed the evening’s remarks, serving as the master of ceremonies for the event. The event, although hosted in an off-year elections cycle, was bustling with enthusiasm and excitement. Chairman Holmes was humbled by the outpouring of support for the Governor and the local party, and express thankful words to all who attended.
