On Saturday, November 18, at 7:00 p.m., the “Messiah,” by George Frideric Handel, will be performed by the Ancilla Domini Community Choir and Orchestra in the Ancilla Domini Chapel at The Center at Donaldson. This performance is presented by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and the Mary Lou McCarthy-Artz Concert Series.
Handel’s Messiah is considered one of the greatest pieces of Christian music ever written. It is immensely popular and widely performed. The Hallelujah Chorus is familiar to almost everyone.

Handel’s Messiah will be conducted by Andrew Jennings, the Director of Liturgy and Music for the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and instructor of voice at Ancilla College. Andrew also directs the Ancilla Domini Community Choir and Children’s Choir.
World renown performers include: Soprano, Dr. Jessica McCormack is an Associate Professor and coordinator of voice studies at Indiana University South Bend’s Ernistine M. Raclin School of the Arts. She is an internationally acclaimed performer and clinician, having performed and taught at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and Janáček Conservatory in Brno, Czech Republic.
Countertenor, Joshua Boggs is a current doctoral candidate at the University of Notre Dame and a guest lecturer in choral music at Indiana University South Bend. He has performed widely both at home and abroad, having been both soloist and ensemble performer in countries such as Austria, Italy, and Mexico.
Tenor and Chicago native, Nolan Carter has established himself as a sought-after voice in both solo work and ensemble singing. He has performed with many distinguished groups such as Third Coast Baroque, Chicago Choral Artists, and the Chicago Bach Ensemble. He is also an active sacred musician with St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Chicago.
Baritone, Dr. Stephen Lancaster is Associate Professor of the practice and head of the graduate voice studio at the University of Notre Dame. He has been described by Fanfare Magazine as “varied in tone and alive to feeling” and as “a fine storyteller” by the American Record Guide. His has been a feature performer around the world in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Chiang-Kai Shek Memorial Hall, and Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall.
