Harrell makes all Crossroads League team
UPLAND — Becca Gerig, Rachel Bouma, and Haley Harrell (Plymouth High School graduate) each earned All-Crossroads League honors for the Taylor volleyball team, the league office announced Monday.
Gerig was named first-team All-Crossroads League for the first time in her career after earning second-team honors in each of the past two seasons. The senior outside hitter ranked ninth in the Crossroads League with 2.8 kills per set, finishing the year with 279 kills and adding 281 digs for the Trojans. Gerig finishes her TU career with 1,210 kills and 1,187 digs.
Fellow senior Rachel Bouma and junior Haley Harrell each earned second-team All-Crossroads League honors for TU. Bouma was named All-Crossroads League for the second time in her career following a stellar season in which the Grand Rapids, Michigan native tallied a career-best 279 kills with a career-high .330 hitting percentage. Bouma also ranked fourth in the Crossroads League with 110 blocks this season.
Harrell earned All-Crossroads League honors for the second time in her career after earning first-team All-Crossroads League honors and being named the Crossroads League Setter of the Year last season. The junior from Plymouth ranked fourth in the Crossroads League with 981 assists and added a career-high 433 digs for the Trojans.
Junior Addy Bailey and sophomore Samantha Korn were also recognized by the Crossroads League coaches with spots on the All-Crossroads League Honorable Mention team. Bailey led TU with 286 kills this season while Korn paced the Taylor defense with 591 digs as the TU libero.
Taylor tied for fourth place in the 2017 Crossroads League standings with a 10-8 mark in Crossroads League play and a 20-16 overall record.
