INDOTlogoThe Indiana Department of Transportation will begin work on a major project in Marshall County next week.

A pre-construction meeting for a complete re-paving of State Road 17 happened earlier this week.  The project is a milling off and repaving from State Road 8 to U.S. 30 including the portion through the middle of downtown Plymouth.  Within the city limits INDOT will be installing 80 ADA compliant ramps at the intersections along SR 17.  The sidewalk ramp work is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 17th.

The entire State Road 17 paving project is scheduled to be completed by September 1st with the City of Plymouth portion being completed by June 16th.

The second project in the county is a mill and fill on U.S. 31 between State Road 10 and 13th Road which will include a reconstruction of the railroad crossing near 13th Road.  The state date is April 30th with completion scheduled for November 3rd.

The State Road 17 project was bundled with the contract for the project on U.S. 31. The total for both projects is $7.7 million and both projects have been awarded to Walsh and Kelly Inc.

Neither of the projects is listed as complete closures. Crews will do all of this work under restriction, meaning the roads will be open to through traffic with lane restrictions in the construction areas.
