MYRTLE BEACH, SC – One run by Kankakee spoiled an outstanding pitching performance by Ancilla’s Jon Fuson as they handed the Chargers a 1-0 loss.
Fuson took a no hitter into the fourth and also hadn’t walked a batter at that point. He went the distance scattering four hits and striking out three. A lead off single in the fifth, a stolen base and another single plated the games only run for Kankakee, a Region IV finalist a year ago.
The Chargers could only manage three hits themselves off Kankakee starter Noah Hoeffel. Caleb Matthews pitched a perfect seventh to take the save.
Ancilla is now 0-6.
