singleton2CULVER – It will be a battle of two familiar rivals in regional tennis championship action as Plymouth and Warsaw each advanced by shutting out their opponents in action at the Culver Academies on Tuesday night.

Plymouth swept easily past Manchester 5-0 in their opening round match. Lanae Singleton took Manchester’s Karly Eichenauer in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 at number one singles.

It took Erin Hunter had a scare at number two singles falling 3-6 in the opening set to Kelsey Eichenauer, but recovered to take the second in a tie breaker 7-5 (7-4) and then breezed through the winner 6-0.

Singles remained unbeaten when Ashley Harrell put away Leiah Brandenburg in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.

The one doubles team of Kendall Dreibelbis and McKenzie Scheetz swept past the Lady Squires team of Lauren Metzger and Bethany Collett 6-0, 6-1.

Number two doubles Cortni Cook and Leah Smith made it a clean sweep for the Lady Pilgrims breezing past Kendra Auler and Lydia Little in straight sets 6-1, 6-0.

Warsaw had just as little trouble with Rochester with Liza Lewis defeating Zoe Bixler at number one 6-1, 6-1. Ella Knight defeated Allie Bickle of Rochester at number two 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 and Alyssa Zellers swept Abbie McCarter 6-0, 6-2.

In doubles the Warsaw number one team of Athena Schlitt and Colette Smith defeated Arrianah Jacobs and Rosalie Navarro of Rochester 6-0, 6-0 and at number two Rachel Boyle and Rachel Herendeen defeated Grace Daake and Clair Dunwoody 6-2, 6-0.

The wins set up a rematch of the two squads. Plymouth won an earlier match at Warsaw during the NLC season.

The championship match will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday evening once again hosted at the Culver Academies.
