Marshall_County_JailA Marshall County Jailer was injured in a fight Wednesday night at the County Jail. 

About 8:30 Wednesday evening, September 13th, officers from the Marshall County Police Department and the Plymouth Police Department were summoned to the Marshall County Jail for the report of a jail officer being injured during a fight in a cell.

Arriving at the scene Officer Nick Laffoon found that the jail officer on duty had successfully locked down all of the inmates in the cell block where the fight had occurred.

MugShot_zachary cowger_2During an investigation it was learned that 22 year old Zachary Dean Cowger of Plymouth had battered the jail officer during a confrontation.

The jailer involved was taken to the Plymouth Hospital for treatment and was released a short time later.

An investigation is ongoing for this incident and a case report will be filed for additional charges through the Marshall County Prosecutors Office. The Zachary Cowger is currently awaiting trial for several felony charges, including an alleged battery on a police officer when he was initially arrested in August.

The Marshall County Police Department was assisted by Plymouth EMS, and the Plymouth Police Department during the incident.
