PLYMOUTH – The Emergency Forklift Service’s Plymouth 10u built a five-run lead, then held off a late fifth inning Lion rally, winning 5-3 on a breezy Wednesday night at Ed Hess Field.

The Pilgrims got on the board early with a quick first inning run, after Alex Harding scored on a Parker Wolfe fielder’s-choice RBI.

Two innings later, Big Red was back at it putting up four runs in the third frame. Trey Delp walked up to the plate after Malachi Sieh reached on an error and Caleb Bowling was hit by a pitch. Delp would promptly stroke a gorgeous single to right-center field, plating Sieh and advancing Bowling to third base. Jak Chaney followed with a bullet-double to center filed knocking in both Bowling and Delp. Harding would return to the plate with Chaney on third base. Harding would send a one-two count fastball to right field, scoring Chaney and ending the third inning barrage with Plymouth up 0-5.

The Lions battled back in the fourth inning. A walk and two singles would load the bases for Jeffrey Schmucher. Schmucher would single home two runs with a hard ground ball to left. Landon Bates would follow with a fielder’s choice RBI. Trey Delp would comeback with two straight strikeouts, ending the Bremen fourth and solidifying a 3-5 Plymouth victory.

Preston Wolfe earned the win for Plymouth, tossing one inning, surrendering zero runs on zero hits, while striking out two Lions. Chaney recorded the last three outs to earn his third save of the season, throwing one inning, striking out one batter.

Chaney led the way at the plate going 1-1 with two RBIs. Delp, Harding, Sieh, Blake Mackey and Drake Feece all collected one hit, adding to the Big Red win.

In the end, Plymouth’s stout defense and consistent pitching was just too much to overcome. Forklift Service’s Plymouth 10u (6-0) will be back in action Friday night as they open the first round of the Mentone Egg Festival tournament, facing Whitko at 6:00pm.
