On Friday, February 24th, eleven students from Plymouth High School had the honor to attend the Purdue University ASCE Bridge Bust Competition in West Lafayette. The objective of the competition is to build a balsa wood bridge that can carry the largest capacity possible, using as few materials as possible. Awards are based on design as well as loading capacity.
In total there were 103 bridges in the competition represented by high school students from around the state.
Lori McClellan, the PHS Bridge Bust club sponsor received the final results on how PHS did Tuesday from Purdue University. The results are:
Presentation: Jessica Drury (12) 4th place and Patrick Houser (12) 14th place
Aesthetics: There was a tie, Patrick Houser 4th along with Meghan Ankney (9) and Sydney Cochran (9).
Structural Efficiency: Patrick Houser (12) 19th, Dallas Fry (9) and Josh Caudill (11) 23rd, Meghan Ankney (9) and Sydney Cochran (9) came in 34th
