arrested_handcuffsA Plymouth man was arrested last Thursday on multiple charges including Battery on a Police Officer following a traffic stop.

About 5:30 Plymouth Officer Matt Emenhiser conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 6th and Sycamore Streets.  During the investigation the officer detected alcohol on the driver’s breath.  As he began to take 57 year old Rhonwyn J. Sterling into custody, Sterling resisted and battered the officer.

Sterling was transported to the hospital for a chemical test and further medical reasons.  He was then transported to the County Jail and booked for Battery Against a Public Safety Official, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a Person, Operating a Vehicle with a BAC of .15% or more, Resisting Law Enforcement and Intimidation.  His cash bond was set at $3,000.

They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
