PLYMOUTH – In a very highly competitive match, the young pilgrims were able to win one of the three three set matches which secured the a team victory over Elkhart Central on Tuesday night at the Hunter Tennis Complex by a 3-2 final.
In varsity singles Plymouth’s No. 1 Mitch Rose defeated Central’s Michael Beveridge by a final of 6-3, 6-3. Plymouth’s No. 2 Tommy Holloway defeated Phillip Stutzman 6-2, 6-2 and No. 3 for Plymouth sophomore Dylan Vories fell to Central junior ​Zach Pelletier 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
In doubles Plymouth’s No. 1 team of Clay Hilliard and Adam Hunter dropped their match to Central’s Jared Reid and Dane Frieden 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. No. 2 team Shaun Frantz and Andy Rostron cinched the victory taking Adam Delks and Adam Moon by a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 final.
Winning for Plymouth’s JV in singles were Drew Harrell and Hugh Smith. The JV swept the doubles matches with the teams of Hugh Smith and Bo Meadors, Kyle Cox and Matthew Gerard, and Austin Kizer and Drew Harrell all winning their matches.
The Pilgrims move to 1-1 on the young season and will travel to Wawasee on Thursday August 17 for the first conference contest.
