The City of Plymouth has won a competitive award from the Michiana Area Council of Governments to attend a free Complete Streets workshop in October.
This week, the National Complete Streets Coalition (NCSC), a program of Smart Growth America, and Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) announced the winners of a competitive opportunity for MACOG communities to attend a Complete Streets workshop.
The City of Plymouth, along with the City of Goshen, the City of Warsaw & Town of Winona Lake will come together next month and learn how to advance active transportation in their communities.
The workshop will provide the communities in the Michiana region with the tools and strategies they need to develop active transportation policies that further economic, health, safety, and livability goals. This visit will help the participating jurisdictions plan to routinely create safe and inviting transportation networks for everyone, including bicyclists, drivers, transit operators and users, and pedestrians of all ages and abilities.
National experts Emiko Atherton, Director of the National Complete Streets Coalition, and engineering consultant, Jeffrey Riegner, will facilitate this event.

The National Complete Streets Coalition, a program of Smart Growth America, is a nonprofit, non-partisan alliance of public interest organizations and transportation professionals committed to the development and implementation of Complete Streets policies and practices.
A nationwide movement launched by the Coalition in 2004, Complete Streets is the integration of people and place in the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of transportation networks. To date, over 1100 agencies have adopted Complete Streets policies.
