Micah Calhoun earned Medalist honors with a career round, a one-under, 71.  Micah’s round featured four birdies.  Starting on 1, Micah birdied 3 & 4 to quickly get out of the gate -2.  A dropped shot on 5 was quickly erased with another birdie on 6 to get back to -2.  On 11 a wayward drive led to an extensive hunt for the ball in tall grass.  After locating his ball, Micah proceeded to hack out.  The shot led to an unfortunate bounce into a creek.  After careful consideration of options, his -2 round quickly looked in jeopardy!  Micah elected to play from WITHIN the hazard.  After gingerly taking a stance Micah wedged his ball towards the green.  His miraculous shot put him inside 4 feet!  Micah tapped in the putt to keep his -2 round intact!  Luck ran out on 12 as a three-putt lead to a dropped shot.  After consecutive par holes, Micah got home in two on the par 5 16th.  He ran his eagle attempt within inches and kicked in for his fourth birdie.  After an up and down par on 17 the par 5 finishing hole offered another birdie opportunity.  Micah’s third shot into 18 came up a bit short changing the strategy to a par save.  His par putt used every bit of the hole, rimming out at the moment of truth, a bogey to end -1 (71) on the day.
Hudson Yoder also had a career round firing an exceptional 73!  His round featured two birdies on the second nine.  Most impressive was his remarkable ball-striking today as he led the team with 13 greens in regulation!
Not to be outdone, fellow senior Grant Clady duplicated his career round from earlier in the year carding a 76.  Grant found seven greens in regulation however he got around in a very economical 27 putts!
