The 8th grade girls basketball “A” team played against a determined conference foe Bremen on the road.  The Red Storm battled to a tough 27-20 victory.  Tough defense and the teams “will to win” contributed to the hard fought win.  The backcourt combination of Lindsay Janus and Emma Cook scored 12 points apiece while Mia Wojcik added 2 and Madison Stiles added a free throw to close out the scoring.  Cook also added 2 assists on the night.  Top rebounders were Olivia Horvath with 7 rebounds off the glass while Miranda German corralled 6 boards.  Excelling on the defensive end were Janus with 3 steals while German, Stiles and Wojcik added 2 steals each. The win improves their record to 6-0.  The girls return to action on Thursday 2/9 at Laville with a start time of 5:00pm.

Last night the 8th grade girls’  ‘B’ basketball team traveled to Bremen.  The girls played with more heart and more intensity than they have played with all year.  Top scorers for the game were Ella Hissong with 11 points and Mia Wojcik with 7 points.  We had many girls who deserve recognition for their hustle and effort throughout the game including Jenna Abberger, Naomi Dorantes, and Libby Torres.  The girls came out on top, defeating Bremen 22-18.

The 7th grade A team fell to Bremen last night 6-28. Keiara Himes, Summer South and Lexi Rose all got on the board but they never quite gained enough momentum to overcome the Bremen defense and struggled to stop the drive on the other end of the court.
The B team avenged that loss with a 22-13 win over the Lions. Sydney Rice and Summer South each had 9 points. Olivia Newcomb and Erin Liedtky added a bucket a piece to the win.
The girls are in action again this weekend in Valpo for a tournament at Thomas Jefferson Middle School.
