The Red Storm eighth grade team battled conference rival Edgewood Thursday evening in an opening NELMSC conference tournament matchup.  The Red Storm worked their way to a 15-13 halftime lead.  A seesaw second half saw both teams go head to head late into the fourth quarter.  With the score knotted at 28, Edgewood took the lead for good on a drive.  The Red Storm squad was lead by Lindsay Janus with 15 points, while Miranda German chipped in with 8 points.  Ella Hissong added 2 points and Emma Cook, Olivia Horvath and Mia Wojcik notched a point to round out the Red Storm scoring.  Wojcik, German and Horvath did a good job on the boards.  German and Wojcik collected 3 steals apiece, while Horvath and German added a few block shots during the game.  The Red Storm 8th grade girls basketball team competed with heart and grit, however they came up short as Edgewood won 32-28.  The team moves to 13-3 for the year.  The girls return to action Monday (3/6) against Laporte Boston at home.  Games will start approximately at 5:30pm.

 

The Lady Red Storm seventh grade fell Thursday night to a tough Edgewood team 50-21 in the opening round of the conference tournament. The girls played much better and made the Lady Tigers work for it. Keiara Himes, Sara Hunter, and Clare Sheedy all had 5 points, Olivia Newcomb and Hannah Friberg tallied a bucket each and Sydney Rice sunk a free throw. The girls take on Boston on Monday for a road game.
