The Red Storm 8th grade girls basketball A team battled non-conference opponent Laporte Boston Monday evening. The Red Storm team raced their way to a 21-8 halftime lead. The Red Storm continued to play tough defense in the second half as they limited Laporte Boston to 3 second half points. The Red Storm squad was lead by Tallulah Gault with 10 points, while Lindsay Janus chipped in with 8 points. Miranda German, Emma Cook and Olivia Horvath added 4 points apiece, as Madison Stiles scored 3 points and Makenzie Dejarnatt and Mia Wojcik notched a point each to round out the Red Storm scoring. Cook, Janus, Stiles, Gault and Wojcik did a good job on the boards. German created 7 steals while Horvath and Stiles collected 3 steals apiece. Janus, German and Stiles shredded the defense for 3 assists each. The Red Storm 8th grade girls basketball “A” team came away with a tough 35-11 victory. The team moves to 14-3 for the year. The girls return to actionWednesday (3/8) against Triton on the road. Game will start approximately at 6:00 pm.
Last night the 8th grade girls’ B basketball team took on LaPorte Boston and won 20-9. The girls came out and played aggressively on offense and defense. The girls all contributed to the game. Top scorers for the night were Mia Wojcik with 8 points, Jenna Abberger with 6 points, Ella Hissong with 4 points, and Naomi Dorantes contributed 2 points. Defensively we had great effort from many team members including the following: Mia Wojcik with 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and 1 assist, Jenna Abberger with 4 steals and 2 rebounds, Ella Hissong with 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals, and Rose Sherwood with 3 rebounds.
The 7th grade girls basketball teams traveled to LaPorte to take on Boston and brought home a couple of victories. In the A game, the girls worked the ball hard on offense and it resulted in a 38-12 win. Sara Hunter had a great game with 9 points, Clare Sheedy and Sydney Rice each added 6. Keiara Himes tallied 5, Laren Rumpler had 4 and Leah Tanner, Lexi Rose and Hannah Friberg all got on the board.
The B team had some kinks to work out after going more than a week without a game but transitioned nicely into a 22-11 win over Boston. Madison Figg was top scorer with 10 points, Chloe Holden had 8 and Erin Liedtky added 4.
Both teams are back in action Wednesday night against Triton.
