Rockies win at Wawasee
SYRACUSE – The freshmen Rockies travelled to Syracuse on Wednesday night and defeated the Warriors 28-26.
The Rockies first score came on a 24 yard pass from Jake Reichard to Collin Mills. The second first half score for the Rockies came from Reichard, capping a 68 yard drive.
Grant Witmer then intercepted the Warriors to end the first half with a score of 14-12.
To open the second half, the Rockies marched down the field, eating up over seven minutes clock, and finished off the drive with a Donny Poczik 3 yard run. The Freshmen team would get their final score in the 4th quarter from Collin Mills on an 18 yard run. Mills would get the decisive two point conversion as well. The Rockies defense came up with a fourth down stop, late in the game, with help from a Daniel Bacon’s 20 yard sack.
The offense gained a couple first downs to wind out the clock and secure the win.
The Freshmen squad picked up their first NLC win (1-5) and 2nd win overall (2-6). They are back in action next Thursday at home against Concord.
